This Basic English for Communication Science book is designed to provide brief overview on English materials for higher education students. This is constructed based on students’ need in learning English as Specific Purpose. It is primarily designed for first year students of Communication Science Department, Faculty of Social and Political Science Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. This book consists of eight chapters in which each chapter is completed with Vocabulary Building, Reading Activity, Language Focus, and Writing and Speaking Activity. Throughout this book, you will explore various English materials in the context of Communication Science. In the beginning of each chapter, learning outcomes and indicators are listed to ease you set the goal, manage your learning and measure your achievement. Besides, materials focusing on vocabulary building, language focus, and reading, writing and speaking activities that elaborate thorough discussion allow you to properly comprehend the materials in the context of Communication Science. Furthermore, student’s practices that cover various exercises are also provided to help you understand the materials in-depth as well as enrich your knowledge and understanding about Communication Science and its components including Journalism and Public Relations. As the closing part of the chapter, a blank space for student’s self -review and personal summary are included to provide a space for students to write or sum-up what you have learned as well as analyze your difficulties.
